Ft. Washington, MD — The Twin Ponds Stable’s Rhapsody Rose secured win 39 of her career in the $10,000 Open Handicap for Mares Wednesday night (May 17) at Rosecroft.
Regular pilot Roger Plante was in the bike for trainer Brian Fisher as the 11-year-old mare sat the pocket as KG Rocks (Frank Milby) fought gamely first over against pacesetter Breadcrumb Income (Brian Burton). Time of the mile was 1:52 and was one of two winners on the night for Plante.
Trainer-driver Steve LeBlanc won a Maryland Sire Stakes preliminary with Holy Trout, setting a new sires stakes standard for 3-year-old filly trotters in 1:57.
Russell Foster secured the 3-year-old colt pace preliminary with Mr Ham Sandwich for owner Brian Emerson and trainer Judy Welty in 1:55.
Burton had a driving-training double, Timmy Offutt and Foster had driving doubles, while John Bell had a training double.
