Richard “Dick” Finfrock, 79, dies

Columbus, OH — Richard L. “Dick” Finfrock, 79, of New Carlisle, Ohio, died May 28, 2021.

He was born April 21, 1942, in Troy, the son of the late Glen “Bill” and Eda Finfrock.

Dick Finfrock died May 28, 2021.

He was an entrepreneur at heart, founding and operating several local businesses, including Finfrock Appliance Services for 40 years, Pizza Plus Drive Thru in New Carlisle, and Liberty Nursery & Christmas Tree Farm, to name a few.

His passion was his horses and harness racing. His strong work ethic was a legacy he proudly passed on to his children.

He was baptized at Asbury United Methodist Church, where he also taught Sunday School, and later would attend church services with his family at Home Road Nazarene.

He took pride in serving his local community and had served as the Mayor of Lawrenceville.

He is survived by his daughters, Suzette McDougall, April Chandler, Dawn (Daniel) Haack and Amanda; life partner, Beverly Gladman; brothers, John (Dottie) and David (Vivian); grandchildren, Ashley McDougall, Taylor McDougall, Cooper Haack and Caitlin Haack; beloved dog, Gracie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral to honor him will be held Friday (June 1) at 1 p.m. at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Medway Cemetery. A reception to celebrate his life will begin at 4 p.m. at The Retreat at Evans Farms, 1892 Liberty Road, New Carlisle, Ohio.
