Ron Burke will be the keynote speaker for the USTA Standardbred Driving School.

“Burke’s familiar grey and gold colors have been seen at every major racetrack in North America,” said driving school coordinator Chip Hastings. “We are thrilled he will be speaking to the next generation of harness racing participants and share some of his personal racing experiences.”

Ron took over the main training duties for the family business in November 2008. He has horses near his hometown of Canonsburg, Pa. (near the Meadows Racetrack) and at Gaitway Farm in south New Jersey, while his father Mickey oversees the winter training of young horses at the old Reveille Farms in Astor, Fla.; all told there are about 250 horses under his care.

Burke became the first trainer in harness racing history to win more than 1,000 races in any given year and also the first to surpass $20 million in earnings in one season. Lifetime, horses he has trained have earned more than $95 million, including the well-known Foiled Again, Won The West, Buck I St Pat, Wishing Stone, Sweet Lou, Rocklamation and so many more.
