East Rutherford, NJ — With a compact field of seven amateur drivers going to the gate Friday night (June 8) at The Meadowlands, some new faces entered the GSY Series and one came home victorious.
T.J. Miller left out of the seven hole and quartered moved to the top with Lily’s Swan Pond. That lead was short lived as Robert Hechkoff made a bold move to retake the top before the half aboard his old classy horse, War Cry Hall.
He held this lead as the trotters rambled towards the top of the stretch. Miller then made his move back to the top en route to a four length victory with the mile timed in 1:55.2. Party On The River with veteran reinsman Roy Marohn got up for second and Hechkoff’s horse finished fourth but was moved up to third via a disqualification.
It was Miller’s first win in as many starts in the GSY Series and also his first career victory. The 6-year-old gelding Lily’s Swan Pond is by Swan For All and is trained by Nick Surick. He is owned by Second Chance Stable Inc.
Come on down next Friday as the final leg of the series gears up. Post time is slated for 7:15 p.m.
