Lexington, KY — Don’t miss this year’s fund-raiser for the historic Round Barn, to be held immediately following the Kentucky Futurity on Sunday, Oct. 2.
The casual event will include video highlights of past Kentucky Futurity winners as well as replays of this year’s race, plus food and drinks, and a silent auction of harness racing memorabilia. Wine for the event is being donated by Leatherwood Farm, a central Kentucky Saddlebred farm.
Tickets are $40 per person and available through Fennells’s (adjacent to The Red Mile), at the door, or by reservation by phoning The Horseman at 859.276.4026.
Also, on Saturday night, Oct. 1, the first race at The Red Mile will be recognized as the Jay Picciano Memorial. Picciano, who died unexpectedly last month, trained horses for many years at The Red Mile and loved the time he spent at the historic oval. Picciano’s family hopes to see his many friends at the races that night.
