Schwartz wins NAADA summer final with Raceace

Yonkers, NY — Alan Schwartz won the $15,000 North American Amateur Drivers Association Summer Final with Raceace on Thursday (Aug. 4) at Yonkers Raceway with a gate-to-wire triumph in 1:58, nosing out Judge Ken and Scott Keppler.

Schwartz went immediately to the lead with Raceace from the pole position, and
they led by the quarter in :28.2 and the half in :57.4 with Judge Ken tight on his back. The order remained the same up the backside, but they were side-by-side nearing the three-quarters in 1:27.4 and remained that way when they turned for home.As they cleared the final turn and headed for home, Judge Ken got his head in front, but Raceace battled back and they were side by side at the finish.

“It was so close that Scott and I asked who won it,” Schwartz related. “But needless to say, I was the happy one when the judges posted my number first.”

With a late rally, Jekyll N Hyde (Nicole DiCostanzo) got up for third.

The winner, Raceace, is owned and trained by his driver.
