Son Of A Tiger N leads Merton grand slam

Nichols, NY — Mike Merton drove four winners on the Sunday (May 22) card at Tioga Downs, including the $12,000 Open Pace with Son Of A Tiger N.

Son Of A Tiger N ($6.00) took the early lead, but Rebellious (Wally Hennessey) took over just before hitting the first quarter in :26.3. PL Ozzy (Aaron Byron) then took control as they went by the stands for the first time and led to the half in :54. Rebellious came back to reclaim the lead up the backstretch and reached three-quarters in 1:21.2.

As they made the turn for home, Son Of A Tiger N came flying three-wide and blew right on by them like they were standing still. He cruised down the stretch to win in a lifetime best 1:50. Franco Totem N (Marcus Miller) came up to finish second; Lanjo Lee (Leon Bailey) finished third.
