Sophomore colt trotters to wrap up second leg of Ohio Sires Stakes

Grove City, OH — Two divisions of 3-year-old colt trotters will wrap up the second leg of the Ohio Sires Stakes Saturday afternoon (June 25) at Eldorado Scioto Downs. Each division of seven trotting colts will carry a purse of $55,000.

Caviar Gold and Doo Wop Kid were first leg winners at Miami Valley Raceway on May 7.

Caviar Gold, trained by Chris Beaver, is the first division favorite. The son of Triumphant Caviar will look for his fourth win of the year. Aaron Merriman will drive the 6-5 favorite. Caviar Gold is owned by Beaver, Bill Manes, Leo Fleming, and Steve Zeehandelar.

Guido Di, the second choice at 7-2, has won five of seven races this year. Brady Brown will drive the son of Wishing Stone for trainer Steve Schoeffel. Guido Di is owned by Virginia Schoeffel, Kathy Schoeffel, Lewis Falton, and Sara Zidek.

In the second division, Doo Wop Kid will look to win again in Sires Stakes action. The Dalton Walls trainee is 6-1 on the morning line. Tony Hall will drive the Wishing Stone gelding. Walls co-owns Doo Wop Kid with Bruce Soulsby.

The favorite is Ron Burke’s Up Blueberry Hill at 5-2. Chris Page will drive the son of What The Hill who finished second to Caviar Gold in a division of the Currier & Ives last week at The Meadows. Up Blueberry Hill is owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Jason Melillo, and Beasty.

First race post time at Scioto Downs is 3:15 p.m.
