Sophomore filly pacers in Buckeye Stallion Series Friday at Scioto

Grove City, OH — The second leg of the Buckeye Stallion Series for 3-year-old filly pacers will highlight Friday’s (June 3) 15-race program at Eldorado Scioto Downs. Five divisions will put 41 sophomore fillies behind the gate to compete for a total of $87,500.

Five of six divisional winners from the first leg of the Buckeye Stallion Series will return to defend their earnings. Factory Girl, Sleepwithoneyeopen, Allnight Micki, When You Kiss Me, and Spitting Image were winners in the opening leg at Miami Valley Raceway on May 2.

In the first division, Allnight Micki and Sleepwithoneyeopen will go head-to-head. Allnight Micki, the morning line favorite at 2-1, is trained by Tim Twaddle and will leave from the rail with Aaron Merriman in the sulky. The daughter of Downbytheseaside recently took a new lifetime mark of 1:52 in the Falcon Almahurst final at Scioto Downs.

Next to her in the second post position, Tyler Smith will steer Sleepwithoneyeopen for trainer Clarence Foulk. The Well Said filly has won two of five starts this season.

The second division will feature three fillies sired by Downbytheseaside. Bowery, trained by Virgil Morgan Jr., Caven Point, trained by John Olivero, and Ron Burke trainee Sloopy are three of the nine fillies by Downbytheseaside in Buckeye Stallion Series action Friday. Party Cruiser, by Yankee Cruiser, is trained by Vernon Beachy and is the morning line favorite at 2-1.

Two first leg winners will square off in the third division as Factory Girl and When You Kiss Me will meet. Factory Girl, another daughter of Downbytheseaside, may have the advantage of inside post position two. Tony Hall will guide for trainer Steven Walters.

When You Kiss Me will be further down the gate in hole six. Lightly raced as a 2-year-old, 2022 is proving to be the year for the Arthur Blue Chip filly. Now conditioned by Jeff Smith, she has won four of nine starts this season, only missing the board once. When You Kiss Me has bankrolled $32,500 and has a mark of 1:52.4. Smith’s son, Tyler, will drive.

Seaside Park is the slight favorite in the fourth division. The Burke trainee will have Chris Page in the bike as she looks for her second win of the year.

First leg winner Spitting Image will try to make it two wins in as many legs in the fifth division. Spitting Image spent most of her freshman year at the Ohio Sire Stakes level in 2021. Mid-tier racing has proven more successful for the Yankee Cruiser filly with $20,610 in seasonal earnings in the bank. Burke and Page will team up again for the BSS start.

The five BSS divisions are scheduled for races one, four, seven, 11, and 14. First race post time at Eldorado Scioto Downs is 3:15 p.m.
