Southwind Amazon (Art McIlmurray) left hard from post seven to drop into fourth down before the quarter. Meanwhile, up front, Princess Rockette (Justin Irvine) and Lying in Cash (Jason Merriman) battled each other all the way past the half, setting fractions of :26.1, :54 (:27.4) when McIlmurray and Amazon tipped out three wide into the clubhouse turn.

The speedy and experienced duo then launched down the backside to trip the three-quarters in 1:23 (:29) before drawing off down the stretch to win by 6 lengths, stopping the timer in 1:52.2 (:29.2), just two ticks off his own all-time Northville Downs track record (1:52). Jet’s Sureshot (David Lake) closed to be second and Lying in Cash settled for a hard-fought third. Ameer Najor owns and Paul Holzman trains Southwind Amazon whose career earnings now total $1,347,721.
