Sowers wins three at Monticello

Monticello, NY — On Thursday afternoon (Dec. 3) at Monticello Raceway, McGwire Sowers enjoyed a driving triple for the second time in a month.

Sowers lit up the tote board in the opener with Tammy Sowers’ Terem Up Louie, winning in 1:59.4 and returning a healthy $87.00 win mutuel. His next trip to the winner’s circle was aboard the 3-year-old Hypnoticdream ($3.50), who overcame post 8 in the fifth race and scored a four-length wire-to-wire win in 1:56.4, his third of the season for Mo Coo Inc.

Sowers completed his driving triple in the sixth w ith Our Regal Ideal N ($2.70). The classy 9-year-old romped in the sixth, winning by 12 lengths in 1:56.1 for owner Clifford Grundy.

The 20-year-old McGwire Sowers now ranks sixth among Monticello drivers with 70 wins this season, 40 behind leader Bruce Aldrich Jr. McGwire’s father, Bo Sowers, extended his lead atop the training standings to 76-55 over Gary Messenger by way of a training triple on the card.
