Spy Booth undefeated in three seasonal starts

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Spy Booth started his 4-year-old campaign with only one lifetime victory, but he ran his 2022 record to three-for-three with a 1:56 victory in Tuesday’s (May 17) $15,000 featured trot at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

Spy Booth went to the lead right at the start and was in firm control throughout for driver George Napolitano Jr., trainer Lorenzo DeSimone and owner Joseph Riad. The Muscle Hill gelding achieved a bit of notoriety when he broke his maiden in last year’s $325,000 Zweig Memorial at Vernon Downs, three weeks after finishing second in the Hambletonian. That pair of races accounts for $387,500 of his $455,882 career bankroll.

Mark MacDonald emerged as the day’s leading driver with three wins.

Racing returns to the Downs on Saturday (May 21) at 1:30 p.m. Sunday’s (May 22) 5 p.m. card is topped by three $30,000 divisions of Pennsylvania All-Stars action for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings. Program pages will be available on the PHHA website.
