Woodstock, VA — Stall applications for the second annual fall pari-mutuel harness meet at Shenandoah Downs in Woodstock, Va., are being accepted now through Aug. 15. The five week season will begin Sept. 16 and continue through Oct. 15 with racing every Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Stall applications are available at www.vhha.net or www.shenandoahdowns.com. Approximately 150 stalls will be available in the barn area, up in number from last year.
Director of Racing Mike Wandishin will have a condition sheet out in early August, and it is expected to be very similar to the inaugural meet in 2016. Any questions on stabling or the meet itself can be directed to Mike at 302.509.1861 or via email at shenandoahdownsraceoffice@aol.com.
Shenandoah Downs is located at the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds in Woodstock, Va., at I-81, exit 283. The grounds are located halfway between Winchester and Harrisonburg. The half-mile oval underwent an $800,000 renovation one year ago before the inaugural pari-mutuel campaign last fall.
Harness racing at the Shenandoah County Fair, which precedes the regular meet by two weeks, will take place from Aug. 30-Sept. 2. A condition sheet for the four-day fair meet is now available on the websites listed above. For information on those non-wagering fair races, call Terry Kibler at 540.335.8768.
