Swedish trotting star Calgary Games returns to action

Unbeaten Calgary Games, a 5-year-old Swedish trotter who is owned by his trainer Timo Nurmos and Sweden’s biggest stud farm Menhammar, will race for the first time this year next Wednesday (Dec. 14) at Solvalla.

Calgary Games, who was unbeaten in nine races as a 3- and 4-year-old, has not raced since October 2021, where he won the European Trotting Derby, The Grand Prix de l’UET.

Instead of racing, Calgary Games has been doing stud duties and had a full book in Sweden, but he has also been quite popular outside Sweden and with frozen semen he has covered 33 mares in the United States.

Though Calgary Games has been an absentee from racing so far this year, he is the favorite for the 2023 Prix d’Amerique.

Calgary Games is sired by Readly Express (he by Ready Cash) and out of Olympia Tilly (she by Lindy Lane).
