Tall Dark Stranger, Reflect With Me score in Kentucky Sire Stakes

Hightstown, NJ — Tall Dark Stranger and Reflect With Me continued their winning ways Sunday (Sept. 13) with victories in $40,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes events for 3-year-old pacers at Lexington’s Red Mile.

Reflect With Me, with Dexter Dunn at the lines for trainer Tony Alagna, improved to 6-for-6 this season by winning by 5-1/4 lengths over Pettycoat Business in 1:53 over a track labeled sloppy. Baby Your The Best led through three quarters before Reflect With Me, the 1-5 favorite, kicked home in :26.2 for the triumph. Baby Your The Best finished third.

A daughter of Captaintreacherous out of Remember When, Reflect With Me is owned by breeder Brittany Farms and Brad Grant. She has won 11 of 17 career races and $710,384.

Tall Dark Stranger, also with Dunn in the sulky, captured the division for colts and geldings by 2-1/4 lengths over Catch The Fire in 1:49.2, also on a sloppy track. Captain Kirk finished third. Tall Dark Stranger, the 1-9 choice, took the lead following a :53.4 half and marched to his fourth consecutive win and seventh in eight starts this season.

Trained by Nancy Takter, the son of Bettor’s Delight out of Precocious Beauty has won 15 of 17 lifetime races and $1.61 million. He is owned by Crawford Farms Racing, Marvin Katz, Caviart Farms, and Howard Taylor. He was bred by Jim Avritt Sr.

It was Tall Dark Stranger’s first start since winning the North America Cup on Aug. 29 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Dunn drove both horses for the first time in his career. Regular drivers Yannick Gingras (Tall Dark Stranger) and Andy McCarthy (Reflect With Me) are in Canada.
