Tequila Talkin gets lifetime mark in Meadows trot

Washington, PA — Tequila Talkin withstood challenges from just abut every horse in the field — including a serious bid from stablemate Whiskey Blu — and still was much the best in Thursday’s (Nov. 3) $19,300 Open Handicap Trot at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

While Tequila Talkin was forced to quick fractions, Whiskey Blu stalked from the pocket and challenged in the lane. Tequila Talking responded to Dave Palone’s urging and downed Whiskey Blu by two lengths in 1:53.1, a career best, with Keystone Chaos third.

Ron Burke trains Tequila Talkin, a 7-year-old Cantab Hall-Margarita Nights gelding who won for the 13th time this year and lifted his career bankroll to $333,913, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.

Palone and Mike Wilder enjoyed four wins and three wins, respectively, on the 13-race card, while Bryce Brocklehurst teamed with his father, trainer Harold Brocklehurst, for a pair of victories.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Friday (Nov. 4), when the program features a pair of rich carryovers: $20,699.77 in the final-race Jackpot Super Hi-5 and $13,005.97 in the Jackpot Pick-5 (races 4-8). First post is 12:45 p.m.
