Tetrick wins five including featured trot

Dover, DE — Tim Tetrick began a four race win streak by driving Litigator to a 1:55.1 victory in the $25,000 Winners Over Trot on Wednesday, March 5, at Dover Downs. Tetrick completed a sweep of the top three races by guiding Jessie Hall and Instant Photo to wins in a five win night.

In the $25,000 feature, Tetrick took Parent Racing and Crystal Ball Stables’ Litigator right to the top and they were never headed in a 1:55.1 victory, the third of the year for the Valley Victor gelding. Safari Heat finished second for Roger Plante with Eddie Davis, Jr. steering Go Nano Go to a third place finish.

One race later, Howard Kaufman’s Jessie Hall won for the second time in her last two trips as Tetrick directed a 1:56.1 triumph in a $22,000 Mares Winners Over Trot. Financial Glider came on strongly to finish second for Eddie Davis, Jr. Star Swagger and Roger Plante were the third place finishers.

Tetrick teamed with Trillium Racing Stable’s Instant Photo for a 1:55.3 score, the first win of the year for the S J’s Photo gelding. Customize came on for Sam Belote for the place money. Laser Lavec and Jonathan Roberts were third.

In addition to Tetrick’s five wins, Wayne Long and Mike Cole had two driving wins. Meanwhile Rich Ringler haltered two training winners.

$16,500 paces are Thursday features

A field of nine start in each of two $16,500 4- and 5-year-old male paces on the Thursday, March 6, card at Dover Downs. First post is 4:30 p.m.

This is the last day that racing will start at 4:30 p.m. for the remainder of the current season. Beginning Saturday and for the balance of the meet ending April 10, racing will start at 5:30 p.m.

Coletown USA was a strong second last time out with Tim Tetrick driving for Dave Moffett, Dave Toomey and trainer Billy Moffett while Delmer, owned by Mark Akins and Melissa Cabot, had a win and two seconds in his last three starts, all with Tony Morgan driving, and drew outside post eight. Cathedral Grove has been steady racing for Shaun Callahan, his dad Nick and driver Corey Callahan. Roger Plante and John Wagenhoffer’s Beavercreek Harley leaves from post nine in the second tier.

The other starters in the feature include Dees Last Man, dangerous from the rail with Frank Milby and owners Gloria Kinnamon and trainer Brian Callahan; Lucretia Krantz’s Irish Artist and Jonathan Roberts; Joe Baccino’s Always A Contender will be driven by Vic Kirby; NF Rivers Edge, owned by Roamin At Cooly’s Stables, has the services of George Dennis; while Tim Curtin pilots Neil Chesen’s Mombak.

In the second $16,500 pace, both Colleen and Wilma Chamber’s Buffalo Have Wings with Ross Wolfenden and Frank Condurso’s Smooth Louie N, teamed with Eddie Davis, Jr., won their previous outings. Marilyn Milbrand’s Little Henry N has Roger Plante driving after a big effort last time. Robin and Megan Callahan’s BJ’s Braveheart with Tony Morgan may be a factor.

Gateway Stable’s Pros Best Dream and Jonathan Roberts; Foulk Stables’ Tufsun Beach with Mike Cole; Chastity Dege’s Pilgrims Burner driven by Ross Wolfenden; Greg Simendinger’s Dragon’s Blood with Corey Callahan; and Stacy’s Character, owned by Rich Esham and trainer-driver Bryan Truitt, complete the lineup.

Thursday post time is 4:30 p.m. No live racing on Fridays. Beginning Saturday, live racing will start at 5:30 p.m. daily. There is no charge for parking or admission. Reservations are suggested for the Winner’s Circle Restaurant. Call (302) 674-4600.
