The race which belongs to Vivid Wise As

Cagnes-sur-Mer, France — For the fourth consecutive time, top Italian trotter Vivid Wise As, driven by Matthieu Abrivard, won the prestigious Grand Prix du Département des Alpes-Maritimes on Saturday (Aug. 27) at Cagnes-sur-Mer.

Vivid Wise As had a tough battle with the long-leading Etonnant (driven by Anthony Barrier) to win by a nose, covering the one-mile journey in 1:51.1.

The purse for the winner was $80,000 (U.S.).

The Grand Prix du Département des Alpes-Maritimes is one of very few French races for top trotters over one mile, and it is always raced at the last day of the Summer Meeting at Cagnes-sur-Mer.

In Sweden, Moni Viking and Björn Goop won the Sundsvall Open Trot at Bergsaker, followed by Stolestheshow (Erik Adielsson) and Francisco Zet (Örjan Kihlström).

Moni Viking, who a fortnight ago won the Åby Stora Pris, was timed in 1.54.1f (mile rate).

The purse for the winner was $95,000 (U.S.).
