Lexington, KY — The Red Mile kicked off its 137th season of racing this past Sunday night, which featured a $5,000 guaranteed Pick- 4 pool in races 6-9.
Fans responded by wagering more than $7,100 into the Pick-4, making the first night of the Strategic Wagering Program partnership a huge success. The total handle for the card was more than $346,000, a 20 percent increase from opening night 2010.
“We were very pleased with the results on Sunday, and look forward to monitoring our Pick-4 pools closely over the next few racing days to review further opportunities to expand our partnership with the USTA,” said Julie Sorrell, Director of Mutuels and Simulcasting. “We are also very excited to offer a $10,000 daily Pick-4 guaranteed pool during the Grand Circuit this year.”
The Pick-4 is a nightly wager featured in races 6-9 at The Red Mile, and currently has a guaranteed $5,000 pool each Sunday night. Live racing continues every Thursday, Friday, and Sunday night with a first post of 7 p.m.
