Ultimate Bet won her third straight in the Mares Open Pace.

Ultimate Bet has become the “Rodney Dangerfield” of the $32,000 top distaff division. The Bettor’s Delight 5-year-old, after winning the previous two feature races at 25-1 and 9-1, was still overlooked at 9-2 odds as Sean Bier guided her third consecutive victory in 1:52.4 for trainer Chuck Crissman and owner Three Point Acres. Nidya A closed strong along the inside for Ross Wolfenden to take second in front of Pacific Philly and Eddie Davis, Jr. in a cavalry charge finish.

In the 25,000 Mares Winners Over Pace, 29-1 shot Johnny Waite’s Poker Mom had a second-over trip behind Famed Artist and Jim Morand until turning for home. In the stretch the Run The Table 8-year-old had just enough to hold off Shady Sabrina and Roger Plante closing along the passing lane and Eddie Davis-driven Badlands Iron Lady among a quartet in a 1:54 photo finish. Ironically, Poker Mom was overlooked after a second-place finish last week preceded by a victory the week before. Odds-on favorite Yada Yada Yada A with Ross Wolfenden led the distaff field to the top of the lane before weakening and finishing off the board.

The Green Machine, Tim Tetrick, guided Ozmopolitan to a 1:53.2 triumph in a $23,000 Mares Winners Over Pace. Camturo finished a game second for Tim Curtin while Tug River Aussie and driver Jonathan Roberts took the show spot. Ozmopolitan is owned by Mike Casalino and trainer Dylan Davis and posted her third win of the year.

Tim Tetrick, Corey Callahan, Brandon Givens and Jonathan Roberts had driving doubles.

$25,000 Winners Over tops Wednesday card

A $25,000 Winners Over Trot tops the Wednesday, March 5, program at Dover Downs. First post is 4:30 p.m.

J&E Stable’s Go Nano Go and Eddie Davis, Jr. made good use of post one last week, chalking up a 1:56.1 victory over an “off” track. It was the Balanced Image gelding’s second win of the year.

Three rivals drop down from the Open including Mighty Moses with Jim Morand driving for Ken and Betsy Wood, Bill Ditmar and Steve Iaquinta; M&M Harness Racing’s Saint Johns Boy and Ross Wolfenden; and Tim Tetrick driving Litigator for Parent Racing and Crystal Ball stables.

Leaving from the rail is Tom and Greg Morris’ Safari Heat with Roger Plante, sided by Travelin Lite for owner/trainer/driver Tony Poliseno. Breeze Hill Will, owned by Ricky Pryor and Wendy Crissman will be in the hands of Corey Callahan. Bob Shahan steers Jeff and Jewell Marsh and Cindy Prettyman’s Grand Photo, while Tom Ceraso and John Giumarra’s Moneyball and Mike Cole drew outside post eight.

Monday through Thursday racing begins at 4:30 p.m. There is no live racing at Dover Downs on Fridays. Saturday and Sunday post times are 5:30 p.m. There is no charge for parking or admission. Reservations are suggested for the Winner’s Circle Restaurant. Call (302) 674-4600.
