Tim Martinson, 69, dies

Columbus, OH–Tim I. Martinson, 69, of Gladwin, Mich. passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov 28, 2021.

He was born on Nov. 28, 1952, the son of Kenneth and Katherine (Bickel) Martinson in Cadillac. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a builder, a businessman, an auctioneer and an announcer for Michigan Harness Horseman’s Association. He owned Martinson Construction and worked alongside his son for many years. Later, he followed his passion for harness racing full time as an owner, trainer and driver. He loved hunting, golfing, and competing, whether it was gun competitions or racing. He was determined to love and spend as much time with his family as possible. His love and support for his family meant more to him than anything.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Timothy (Misty) Martinson, Melissa (Joel) Sape, and Kayla (Chris) DeBaeke; grandchildren: Brook, Nanette, Ashlynn, Skyler, Evie, Christian, Alesha, Brianna, Jayson, and Austin; siblings: Greg (Carol), Kathy, Kenda (Roger), and Mary; along with several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and son: Jeremy Martinson.

Funeral services honoring Mr. Martinson will be conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home, Gladwin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Military Honors will be conducted by Gladwin American Legion Post 171.
