Ft. Washington, MD — Tip It On Back ($4.80) got a dream trip from driver Bret Brittingham and pounced on a game pacesetter Rock N Roll Jet to win the $10,000 Open Handicap Pace Sunday night (April 8) at Rosecroft Raceway.
Brittingham tucked the eventual winner into the pocket while Rock N Roll Jet (Kim Vincent) took on a first-over challenge from Hi Sir and as his bid faded, last week’s winner, Options Are A Dream, launched three-wide, but that pressure also failed, ending up fourth. Tip It On Back scooted into the passing lane and edged by for a win in 1:50.2. It was the first win of the year for the altered son of Rockin Image and tied a lifetime best for owner Elizabeth Brittingham and trainer Don Brittingham. Diamondkeeper (John Wagner) was third.
Russell Foster won four races on the Sunday night card at Rosecroft Raceway. Monteverdi ($8.60), Bluebird Ideal ($4.20), Toms Titan ($17.80) and IC A Life Force ($6.00) were Foster’s winners.
Leading driver Frank Milby had two wins and his season total sits at 32. Ross Wolfenden had a pair of wins as well.
