Track records fall at Purchase District Fair

Mayfield, KY — The Kentucky Proud Series continued Saturday (June 5) at the Mayfield-Graves County Fairgrounds, showcasing some of the top 2- and 3-year-old trotters and pacers in the Bluegrass State.

Track records were set on both the trot and pace on the warm June afternoon.

The first record came when Single Girl and driver Randal Jerrell kept their winning ways going, stopping the timer in 1:57.2, winning by 14-1/4 lengths. The Always A Virgin-My Best Girl filly is leased by Janet Banks.

Ti’ Punch made it back-to-back wins in her division as well, winning by 18-1/4 lengths in a new track record time of 2:01.4. The My MVP-Brandy Slush filly was driven by Jeff Nisonger for owner/trainer Pasko Vucinaj.

Driver Randal Jerrell also scored a win with Lucky Day Charms, the fastest 2-year-old trotter of the day. The Dontyouforgetit-My Day To Play filly is owned and trained by her breeder, Burlin Brower. She crossed the wire first by 4-1/4 lengths in 2:06.

The fastest 2-year-old pacer of the day was Rockytop Oh Oh for driver Tyler Shehan. The Western Vintage-Sexy Susan colt is owned by David Arboe, Philip Cotton and Dudley Thompson and is trained by Cotton. After making a three-wide move at the three-quarter pole, Rockytop Oh Oh drew off to win by 9-3/4 lengths in 2:00.4.

Kentucky Proud Series harness racing at County Fairs continues Saturday (June 12) at the Ballard County Fairgrounds in LaCenter with a first post of 1 p.m. (Central). Entries will close Wednesday (June 9) at 10 a.m. (Eastern).
