The 8-year-old mare Delicious, who was bred and raised at Lindy Farms in Connecticut, won her 12th in a row Monday afternoon (April 17) in Sweden.
At the Halmstad track in southern Sweden, Delicious, driven by Ôrjan Kihlström, went to post as the 1-10 favorite, but with a quarter of a mile to go it looked as though she would have a very difficult task catching leading Takethem, driven by Steen Juul.
But again Delicious showed her talent and caught Takethem just before the finish line to win in a new track record of 1:53.1f.
Delicious, who in Sweden races under the name Delicious U.S., is owned by The Zet Stable and trained by Daniel Redén.
The victory was worth $11,000.
