Unbeaten fillies clash in Swing Back Series

by Don Bielak, publicity director, Freehold Raceway

Freehold, NJ — Something’s gotta give at Freehold Raceway when a pair of unbeaten fillies — Robert and Lauren Tucker’s Day After Day and Joe Spoto’s Majestic Eagle — meet in the $6,000 second round of the Swing Back Pacing Series for three-year-old fillies on Thursday afternoon.

Day After Day has a spotless record in three career starts. The daughter of Western Hanover handled $10,000 conditioned company at the Meadowlands on April 14 and April 21, then headed to the Meadows where she scored a 1:541 win in a $24,002 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes event on May 1. All told, Day After Day has earned $22,001 in her short but successful career.

Trainer Ed Lohmeyer has named David Miller to drive. The duo will leave the gate from post two as the 6-5 choice in the early line.

The one to beat figures to be Majestic Eagle. A winner of all five of her lifetime starts, the Artiscape filly most recently recorded a sharp, pacesetting, 1:582 victory in a division of the opening leg of the Swing Back Series last week.

Majestic Eagle will open on the board as the 8-5 second choice in the early line and will start from post three. Hall of Famer Cat Manzi will be in the sulky for trainer Dave Elliott.

See Life, Epic Venture, Keystone Killarney, Free Hand and Shirlie The Girlie complete the field.

The first division is headed by Muzea, Popfinger and Cushman’s LT’s Magic. The daughter of Magical Mike was very impressive in the opening round of the Swing Back, scoring a two and one-quarter length, 1:564 win. LT’s Magic has been a model of consistency — she’s won three of four outings in each season of racing — and deserves to be favored off her last powerful performance.

LT’s Magic has been installed as the 3-1 favorite. Trainer/driver Jim Marohn, Jr. will be at the reins.

One that must be given a long look is Whats My Line. The Jenna’s Beach Boy filly is winless in 11 starts this season but comes into Thursday’s race off a solid second place finish in a $10,000 conditioned pace at the Meadowlands on May 12.

Whats My Line will open up as the 7-2 second choice in the line. Trainer Chris Marino has chosen David Miller to drive.

Rounding out the field are: Cajun Laagacy, Cannae Kissi, Spirit Of The West, Gorgeous Lover and Nadia’s Life.

A first post of 12:30 p.m. has been set for Thursday’s 11 race card at Freehold.
