The FSBOA salutes the top money winners for the 2011 Florida-Sired Stakes year.
Comprised of the Sunshine State, Sale, Stallion and Florida Breeders Stake, the 2011 season produced memorable performances including Cracker Coffee’s sweep of the stakes finals and winning the Florida bonus.
Top purse winners for the stakes season included 2-year-old trotting gelding Matcan ($76,670), the aforementioned Cracker Coffee ($76,292) and 2-year-old trotting filly Pinch Of Thyme ($64,144).
Other categories produced highly competitive racing and balanced earnings among the top four horses. The results illustrate the potential investment returns of owning and developing Florida-sired Standardbreds.
Congratulations to all the 2011 stakes year participants.
Florida Amateur Drivers Club members compete
The FADC members took part in their sixth amateur trot event on Saturday night (Nov. 26) at Pompano Park with yet another new winner emerging in the highly competitive series.
Don Glowacki gained his first win in the FADC fall-winter events as he piloted Torino to a front-stepping win in 1:59.1f, equaling the fastest FADC win at the meet.
Torino is a 6-year-old gelded son of Davanti from the Mr Lavec mare Minnesota Karen. Bred by Doug and Ada Jean Ackerman, Torino is a half-brother to the 2011 2-year-old trotter Duluth 2,1:58.2 ($67,792), by the exported Chocolatier, and to Angie Blue Chip ($183,810).
Glowacki joins other winners Jamie Marra (the only two-time winner), Teddy Bowman, John Campagnuolo and Thomas Santaramo in the FADC winners’ club.
Other top drivers in the fall-winter 2011 series include Joe Pennacchio (on the board in all FADC starts) and Dein Spriggs (fourth or better in all FADC starts).
A total of 17 club members have driven so far in the weekly FADC races.
Be sure to be on hand Saturday nights for the FADC festivities and say thanks to the members who donate their driver’s winnings to local charities.
