Velocity Lady captures initial Dayton Mares Open

Dayton, OH — Velocity Lady and driver Tony Hall overtook favored Marloe Hanover (driven by Brett Miller) and stablemate Coral Reef Hanover (Brady Galliers) in the final quarter mile to capture the first $25,000 Mares Open of the 2022 Hollywood Dayton Raceway meet, held Thursday (Sept. 29).

It was the sixth win of the year for the 5-year-old by Bettor’s Delight, boosting her seasonal earnings to over $90,000.

Hall was content to skim the pylons in third during the first three-quarters of the race, then tipped wide to pass pocket-sitting Marloe Hanover, winning by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:52.2.

Velocity Lady lived up to her name with a 1:52.2 score in Thursday’s Mares Open at Dayton. Conrad Photo.
