Toronto, ON — In gate-to-wire fashion, Warrawee Needy established a new stakes record in the C$170,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Final for 2-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Monday evening (Oct. 10) at Woodbine Racetrack.
The Carl Jamieson student stopped the teletimer in 1:49.4, lowering the all-time OSS record for 2-year-old pacing colts on a seven-eighths-mile oval, which was originally set by Keystone Horatio in 2007 at Mohawk. The colt also took a new lifetime mark in the process.

Warrawee Needy (Jody Jamieson) held the lead through splits of :27, :55.2 and 1:23. The 1-2 favorite used a :26.4 final quarter to score the 2-1/4 length victory over I Found My Beach (Randy Waples). Machapelo (Scott Zeron) finished third.
“We are going to let the horse do the talking from now on,” said Jody Jamieson, following the victory. “We were talking stuff all summer on how great we thought he was and he didn’t let us down, just bad things can happen at small tracks.
“It was probably a mistake to go to Grand River and Flamboro, but your hands are tied when you’re not eligible to anything else,” the Moffat resident added. “He will decide how good he is and I think he showed a few people again that he is still going to be here for the Super Finals.”
Jamieson says Warrawee Needy easily lowered the stakes record.
“He went in 1:49.4 and he just did it on his own,” he said. “I pulled the plugs around the last turn and yelled at him once. He was strong through the wire.”
The son of E Dee’s Cam-Great Memories scored his third Gold Final trophy. The bay has a record of 8-1-1 in 11 lifetime starts and boasts C$385,000 in career earnings for Carl Jamieson, Thomas Kyron, Dr. Michael Wilson and Floyd Marshall.
