Vernon, NY — Warrawee Preferred (Mike Merton) charged late to capture the featured trot ($7,000) at Vernon downs on Friday night (April 27).
Pier Ho Exotic (Jimmy Whittemore) posted all the early fractions (:26.3, :55.4, 1:25.1). Trooper Jim (Drew Monti) came out of the pocket just before the three-quarter mark as the two battled all the way into the stretch.

Warrawee Preferred won the featured trot at Vernon Downs on Friday evening.
Warrawee Preferred (Federal Flex), watched patiently from third. The 7-year-old gelding, who is owned by Scott Woogen and trained by Gary Messenger, made his move in mid-stretch blowing by Pier Ho Exoctic (second) to get the win in 1:55.1. Painite (Truman Gale) came up late to finish third.
Warrawee Preferred ($12.60) won for the third time this season while getting career win number 34.
Somedew Somedont and Tournament, each won a division of the Keller Trotting Series.
Somedew Somedont (John MacDonald) captured the first division of the Robert E. Keller Trotting Series ($4,000). Owned by Chris and trainer Dale Lawton, Somedew Somedont ($2.20) nailed down her second straight of the season. The 3-year-old filly by Deweycheatumnhowe would get career win number four.
John MacDonald was the winning driver in the second division as well, leading Tournament (Deweycheatumnhowe) to a gate-to-wire victory. The 3-year-old gelding is owned by Philip Hale and trainer David Dewhurst.
Tournament ($2.30) won for the second time this season and the sixth time in his short career.
Vernon Downs returns to live racing with a 13-race card on Saturday (April 28) at 6:10 p.m.
