Weskey, the 14-year-old son of Wesgate Crown, notched his 60th career win as he went coast-to-coast for trainer/driver and co-owner Tyler Borth.
Pacific Oak elected to come off the pace for trainer/driver Ken Oliver as he stopped the clock in 1:59.3 for owners Ken and Shirley House. With the victory, the son of Pacific Rocket increased his bankroll to $419,861.
Coming into Sunday, there was a two-way tie for the lead in the trainer standings. Both Gord McDonnell and Vic Puddy were in a dead-heat with 35 wins each. That changed in race four as Payback went gate-to-wire for driver Alfie Carroll to secure Puddy the trainer’s title. It will be the second year in a row for the veteran conditioner.
Live racing will resume Monday evening at 6:15 p.m.
