Whatanartist, with Brett Miller driving, made it two in a row at Scioto Downs on Saturday night.

As the gate opened up, it was a battle for the top with Whatanartist and Street Sign both double out, as Third Straight, driven by Dean Collins, pushed the opening quarter in 26.3. Miller was able clear to the top after the half in 56.3 and kept on rolling. My Pal Mark, making his first start of the year, with driver Sam “Chip” Noble III tried to grind down Whatanartist, but had to settle for second place, a length behind the winner. Title Shot held on for third with Bob Harper in the bike.

Brett Miller, piloting the Virgil Morgan, Jr. trainee referred to Whatanartist as the “real thing,” complementing the horse after a rough trip to win the Invite in 1:52.1.

The Virgil Morgan, Jr. and Brett Miller duo teamed up earlier in the night to win the $7,500 Open with Fritzie Cam in 1:53.2. Uphill Battle finished second for driver Todd Jones. Norman Pheeny rounded out the board, finishing third for driver Jeff Fout.
