Wild Wild Western finds wire in time in Meadows $17,900 pace

Washington, Pa – Wild Wild Western retook the lead near the three-eighths and found the wire just in time to capture Wednesday’s (Oct. 18) $17,900 Open Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Wild Wild Western opened a two-length lead past the three-quarters but found himself under siege late from Rock Candy on the outside and Carolina Beach in the Lightning Lane. The 4-year-old son of Western Ideal-Caila Fra had enough in the tank to score for Tony Hall in 1:50.4, 1/2 length better than Rock Candy, with Carolina Beach third.

Norm Parker trains Wild Wild Western, who boosted his career bankroll to $246,815, for Jacobs Creek Racing, Andrew Altobelli and John Deters.

Dave Palone collected three victories on the 13-race card while, for the third time in as many weeks, 13 different trainers each one a race.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Monday, first post 12:45 p.m.
