Delaware, OH — Winchester splashed to a 2:00.4 victory in the first division of the $34,194 Ohio Breeders Championship 2-year-old colt pace over a “sloppy” track on Wednesday (September 21) at the Delaware County Fair.
Gun Show won the second division in 2:00 flat and driver Dan Noble scored his fourth victory of the afternoon on a track which improved to “good.”
Driven by Ty Van Rhoden, Winchester rushed from far off the pace to defeat Four Aces Osborne by 3-1/4 lengths in 2:00.4 and returned $40.80, 12.60, 3.80. The victory was Winchester’s sixth of the season. The gelded son of Feelin Friskie-The Firm Truth closed from sixth at the three-quarters. Four Aces Osborne was second and American Friskie finished third.
Gun Show scored his sixth win of the year, coming from third to defeat Feelin Cornered and Noble Trick. The winner returned $3.60, 3.40, 3.10. The win was Noble’s 12th of the meeting. Gun Show is by Feelin Friskie-Cagey Myrt.
ML Cupcake, Fire In The Cell score in OBC 3-year-old filly trot
Sam Noble III guided ML Cupcake to a gate-to-wire victory in the first division of the $32,894 Ohio Breeders Championship for 3-year-old filly trotters.
ML Cupcake was 1-3/4 lengths better than Photo Memory (Ray Paver). The final time of 2:00 was over the track rated “sloppy.”
ML Cupcake is trained by Scott Mogan for William J. Johnson II and Douglas W. Millar.
In the second $16,447 division, Fire In The Cell (Ray Paver) defeated Tory (Ron Pierce) in 2:00.4. Fire In The Cell is owned by Slaughter Racing Stable and conditioned by Danny Collins.
JJ Hall, Shining Ember win in OBC 3-year-old colt trot
JJ Hall and Shining Ember won divisions of the $42,644 Ohio Breeders Championship 3-year-old colt trot at the Delaware County Fair.
Sam Noble III beat son Dan Noble in the first division as JJ Hall won his fifth race of 2011 in 2:02.2. Dan Noble drove runner-up Future Night Train. JJ Hall paid $3.40, 2.60, 2.10.
Shining Ember, with Brian Sears in the sulky, grabbed a huge early lead and held off Quick N Slick by two lengths in 1:57.4. Shining Ember paid $4.60, 3.20, 2.20.
