Washington, PA — On the bench for 10 weeks, a refreshed Windsun Tiara seized the early lead and drew off late to triumph in a career-best 1:51.1 in Wednesday’s (Aug. 7) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, an $11,500 conditioned pace for fillies and mares.
Once Aaron Merriman reached the point with the 3-5 Windsun Tiara, the 4-year-old daughter of American Ideal-Windsun Princess flicked aside the first-over challenge of Twenty Grand and defeated Cathy Hanover by five lengths. Hillbilyclassygirl was a ground-saving third.
Randy Bendis trains Windsun Tiara, who boosted her lifetime bankroll to $137,880, and owns with Pollack Racing LLC.
Hunter Myers piloted three winners on the 13-race card.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday (Aug. 8), when the program features a pair of stakes for freshman filly trotters: a $157,598 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes and an $80,000 Pennsylvania Stallion Series event. First post is 12:45 p.m.
