Workin Ona Mystery, Test Of Faith lead Scioto Invitationals

Columbus, OH — On Friday (Aug. 19), Workin Ona Mystery will look to become the first three-time winner of the $100,000 #SendItIn Invitational for top male pacers at Eldorado Scioto Downs, while Test Of Faith will attempt to become racing’s next double millionaire in the $100,000 Cleopatra Invitational for pacing mares.

Workin Ona Mystery will leave from post four as the 5-2 morning line favorite with David Miller at the lines. The 6-year-old son of Captaintreacherous has hit the board eight times in 12 seasonal starts. With four wins in 2022, Workin Ona Mystery is the field’s newest millionaire with $1,040,431 in the bank. Just last week, the Ron Burke trainee finished third in the $315,000 Dan Patch Stakes, behind Bulldog Hanover. Workin Ona Mystery’s previous #Senditin victories came back-to-back in 2020 and 2021 for co-owners Burke Racing Stable, Milton Leeman, Alan Keith and the Wingfield Brothers.

Charlie May, the 9-2 second choice, will start from post seven. The 4-year-old gelding by McArdle enters off his 1:49.3 victory in last week’s Myron Charna President’s Pace at MGM Northfield Park. Brett Miller will remain in the sulky for trainer Steve Carter and owner Don Tiger. With $1.3 million in career earnings, Charlie May has tallied 21 wins in only 41 lifetime starts. He ties for the field’s fastest lifetime mark of 1:47.1 alongside Tattoo Artist, the 5-1 third choice.

Test Of Faith needs only $44,019 to surpass $2 million in lifetime earnings, and a victory in the co-featured Cleopatra can enable the 4-year-old daughter of Art Major to secure the milestone.

David Miller will guide Test Of Faith from the second-tier post 10 starting spot. Trained by Brett Pelling for Melvin Segal, Kentuckiana Racing Stable and Eddie Gran, the mare has won half of her 10 seasonal starts with four additional second-place finishes. Her 2022 victories include the Roses Are Red final, Graduate Series final and the Dorothy Haughton Memorial, where she established her lifetime mark of 1:47.

The 7-2 second choice, Lyons Sentinel will leave from post four with Matt Kakaley getting the call. The 5-year-old daughter of Captaintreacherous has won three of eight seasonal starts, including the Clara Barton Distaff Pace on July 25. The mare has bankrolled $2.1 million throughout her racing career for trainer Jim King Jr. and owner Threelyonsracing.
