Yonkers to maintain current schedule into February

by Frank Drucker, publicity director, Empire City at Yonkers Raceway

Yonkers, NY — Yonkers Raceway shall continue its six-program-per-week live harness schedule through February, it was announced today by general manager Bob Galterio.

Yonkers’ live harness schedule is Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, with first post at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday matinees begin at 1:00 p.m. sharp.

“We are very grateful to the New York State Racing and Wagering Board for their cooperation,” Galterio said. “Our horse population has allowed us to remain at six programs weekly, and we’re glad to give our horsemen and fans some consistency in the schedule.”

Yonkers’ 2007 stakes season begins Friday, Feb. 2, with the opening round of the Hopeful Pacing Series for 3-year-old fillies.

Harness and thoroughbred simulcasting is available seven days a week (thoroughbreds around the NYRA schedule), while Empire City’s nearly 4,200 video gaming machines are in play daily from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 a.m.
