Always B Miki easily wins Crown prep

East Rutherford, NJ — Always B Miki, fastest harness horse of all time, easily won the $25,000 Open Pace at The Meadowlands on Friday (Oct. 21), a prep for the older division of male pacers’ final next week. David Miller drove the champion again, winning in 1:48 for trainer Jimmy Takter and owners Bluewood Stable, Roll The Dice Stable and Christina Takter.

Always B Miki cruises to victory as he tunes up for the final race of his career in the Breeders Crown.
Leaving from the 10 post (the nine spot with the scratch of Art History), Miller took Always B Miki three-wide around the first turn as Bushwacker, Luck Be Withyou, Bettors Edge and Americanprimetime fired hard to a :26.1 first quarter. As the shuffling continued among the four leavers, Always B Miki found a smooth path behind them as the half-mile went in :53.4.
By three-quarters in 1:21.1, Always B Miki was coasting down the stretch and easily won. Dealt A Winner was second and Artistic Major was third.

In the first of two $20,000 Breeders Crown elims for the Open Mare Pacers at The Meadowlands on Oct. 21, Frost Damage Blues, driven by Brett Miller, finished second but was placed first for the 1:51.1 win. While Lady Shadow easily handled her opposition to visit the winner’s circle in 1:48.4.

The three Breeders Crown fields not requiring eliminations-both trotting events for older horses and one pacing event-were drawn first on Friday (Oct. 21) evening at the Meadowlands. The two Breeders Crown fields for 2-year-old trotting fillies and older pacing mares were decided after elimination events contested on the evening’s card.
