Cocktail Hour equals track record at Rockingham Park

by Lynne Snierson, publicity director, Rockingham Park

Salem, NH — Cocktail Hour demonstrated once again that she has a real affinity for the Rockingham Park racing strip as she tied the track record for 4-year-old trotting mares on Sunday, July 6. Her effort marks the third time she has set or tied a Rockingham record in two seasons.

Trained and driven by Ivan Davies, Cocktail Hour won the featured $12,000 trot in 1:55.1 on a fast track to tie the record set by Abbey Craig on September 3, 2005. As a 3-year-old filly, Cocktail Hour set the new record of 1:57 for horses her age and gait on June 29, 2007 and then tied her mark on July 18, 2007.

The Fourth of July holiday weekend at Rockingham proved to be record setting for 4-year-old mares of both gaits. On July 4, Fox Valley Sage set the mark for pacers when she crossed the wire in 1:54.4 and then two days later, Cocktail Hour tied the mark for trotters.

Live racing resumes on Wednesday, July 9, with a 10-race card and post time of 1:05 p.m.
