Timesareachanging captures third Adios elimination

by Anne Doolin, for the Meadows

Meadow Lands, PA –– It wasn’t another local horse, but it was a third gelding that took the final of three $50,500 eliminations for the 38th edition of the Coors Delvin Miller Adios for three-year-old pacing colts on Saturday at The Meadows. And Timesareachanging did it in the same record time -– 1:50 -– that Georgia Pacific did in the first.

Ron Pierce went three-wide with the Brett Pelling-trainee before the five-eighths and cleared the pack before Metropolitan and Maltese Artist went on a break in traffic in the final turn. Harry Hornet and The Preacher Pan closed to nab the second and third spots, and the last seats on the bus, for the Adios Final, with post time slated for 5:45 p.m.

Timesareachanging, owned by Perfect World Enterprises of Old Westbury, New York, is a gelded son of Cam’s Card Shark, who won the Adios in 1994.

“The Adios is a tough one to win, and I’d love to win it,” said Pierce.

This year, the Adios reverted to the old format where finalists earned their post positions, with elim winners drawing for posts one through three; second place finishers for posts four through six; and third place finishers saddled with posts seven, eight and nine.
