Freehold, NJ — Eric Abbatiello scored his 2,000th career victory with five wins on the Thursday (Sept. 29) card at Freehold Raceway.

The son of Hall of Famer Carmine Abbatiello scored his 2,000th victory with Our Cullenscrown N in the eighth race.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Abbatiello is seeking his fifth driving title at his home track. Harness racing was always in his blood but it took the New Jersey native until he was 30 years old before he decided to follow in his fathers’ footsteps.

A graduate of Christians Brothers Academy High School, he then studied at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He graduated with a degree in philosophy and business. He later worked as a stock broker and finance planner.

Abbatiello scored wins on the day with Tossies Flash, Honeys Dragon, Forbettor Or Worse, Our Cullenscrown N and Mr Erv.
