Ft. Washington, MD — The fall series of Maryland Sire Stakes for 3-year-olds started on Thursday (Sept. 22) at Rosecroft Raceway with the trotting colts and geldings going to post.

There was no surprise when driver Brian Burton sent Speed It (Cam’s Rocket) to the engine, earning his seventh straight win, stopping the clock in 2:01.3. Righteous Renegade was two lengths back for place.

Richard Hans owns, trains and bred the winner.

The filly trotters had a new contender in the box and she proved to be the best. Debbie’s Peanut (CR Renegade) took the whole summer to get her act together but now shows she learned well. Pilot Justin Vincent was very content with the pocket trip and used the stretch to take the lead at the wire in 2:01 for owner Deborah Warnick and trainer Scott Warnick. Winbak Farm was the breeder. Whitesville Deb was up for second.

In the filly pace, reinsman Bill Long sent Mo Power (Capitol Power) to the front and opened up a little at every pole, stopping the timer in 1:59.3, seven lengths in front of Little Bit Wild. Dale Massey is the owner and breeder.

Steal N Go (Bonnie And Clyde) picked up his seventh win in eight starts for driver/trainer Jeff Fout in the colt and gelding pace. Toms Tae Kwon Do finished second in the 2:01.1 mile. Winbak Farm is the owner and breeder of the winner.

The 2-year-olds return on Tuesday (Sept. 27) for their second sire stakes preliminary at Rosecroft.
