Barn Doll captures Miss Versatility final

Delaware, OH — Barn Doll made her first victory of the season a lucrative one, winning Thursday’s (Sept. 22) $120,000 Miss Versatility championship for older female trotters by 1-1/2 lengths over Charmed Life in 1:53.2 at the Delaware County Fairgrounds. White Becomes Her was third and Elegant Serenity fourth.

Barn Doll won the Miss Versatility final in a time of 1:53.2.
Jeff Gregory, who co-owns Barn Doll with Jesmeral Stable and also trains the mare, drove the 4-year-old Barn Doll, who was the 9-5 favorite.
She was put on the lead at the start and never looked back, setting fractions of :27.4, :57.1, and 1:24.4. Charmed Life made a first-over challenge, but was unable to get past Barn Doll.
Barn Doll, a daughter of Conway Hall-Headintheclouds, was the New York Sire Stakes champion as a 2-year-old and entered this year with 17 wins in 22 races. This season, she has one victory in 13 starts and earnings of $141,271.
She had top-three finishes in three preliminary rounds of the Miss Versatility and was third in the Muscle Hill Stakes.

Tight Lines, who was the leader for three-quarters of the mile race, finished third and Promise Delivered was fourth.

Betting Line won the 71st Little Brown Jug, presented by the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association, with a world record performance in the $577,000 event’s second heat Thursday (Sept. 22) at the Delaware County Fairgrounds.
