DSBF trotters complete first leg

Harrington, DE — As the openingweek of the first leg of 2-year-old stakes events continued for the DelawareStandardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF), it was the trotters turn to showcase theirtalent in four $20,000 divisions on Wednesday (Sept. 21) at Harrington Raceway.

Benjamin Brooks’ Master Clave($2.40, Ross Wolfenden) won his elimination indominant fashion and improved to 2-for-2 in his career for trainer JohnWilkerson with a front stepping 2:04 victory. The Master Lavec-DillyDally Delia gelding won a DSBF prep race on September 14.

Another son of Master Lavec-(PrivateEducation) was victorious in the remaining colts and geldings division asMaster Kingpin ($8, Art Stafford Jr.) prevailed in 2:05.3. Master Kingpinis owned and trained by Thomas Lail.

Willow Mill Stable’s Willow MillAnna ($16.60, Gordon Barrett) won the first division for fillies with a 2:05.3front end win. The daughter of Political Briefing-Lukes Samantha is trained byher driver.

Leigh Raymer-trained and co-ownedLuv Is Blind ($2.80, Victor Kirby) prevailed in the final division in 2:02.3.The daughter of Keystone Activator-Iluvulikealuvsong hit the line first in thenick of time in a tight photo over Spoonful. Raymer had an owner and trainerdouble on the program.

In the $17,500 overnight feature,the Open Trot, Mike Casalino and Dylan Davis’ Theresademoninme ($5.60,Jon Roberts) triumphed in 1:55.3.

Theresademoninme marched to theearly lead through fractions of 27.3, 57.2, and 1:26.4 while Steel Reservemounted his first-over attack and Hemi Seelster sat in pocket position. As theyhit the top of the stretch, Theresademoninme maintained the lead and held offSteel Reserve to the wire. Hemi Seelster finished third.

Ross Wolfenden and Victor Kirbyeach had three wins on the program. Art Stafford Jr. and Jon Roberts each had adouble.

All $100,000 final events fortrotters and pacers will be contested on October 5.
