Pandy’s Picks: Dec. 27 M

by Bob Pandolfo

Bob Pandolfo offers his picks for the $50,000 Pick-4 at Meadowlands Racetrack on Dec. 27, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Meadowlands Pick-4, Races 7-10, Friday, Dec. 27, 2013

Last Friday I played a $24 ticket, my first of the meet. I had the first three winners including my single in the ninth and then in the 10th, both of my horses broke stride and a 25-1 shot won. Ouch. On Saturday my $12 ticket wasn’t close, I only had one of the races. The Pick-4 paid more than $10,000 for a $2 wager and the winners were logical contenders.

$1 play: 1359/35/278/345 = $72

Analysis:

Race 7: Very tough race, a B-1 trot, to start off the sequence. I’m going to use all four of my ranked contenders, 1-3-5-9.

Race 8: (3) Billmar Scooter beat a similar field here three back then went to Yonkers and held her form well. (5) Jinglejanglejingle just missed with a wide late rally in last. These are the two most obvious in this competitive B-1 event.

Race 9: This filly and mare B-2 pace is a wide open race. (2) Royal Knockout lacked a rally in last but she drops and she fits a longshot angle of mine, second off the sick scratch. I’m also using Burke shipper (7) Destiny’s Chance, who just missed here three back. An interesting longshot is (8) Local Art. She is 20-1 on the morning line but she drops and is making her fourth start off a layoff for new barn.

Race 10: A B-2 trot and pretty wide open. (3) Pointe Of Honour is a good trotter but recent form is hard to gauge. He drops and moves inside. (4) Walltocousins is in solid form for trainer Brad Irvine and his horses have been racing well here. (5) Omnipotent broke in his first start for the Burke barn but that was at Yonkers and she gets Gingras tonight.
