Yonkers Raceway Pick-4, Races 7-10, Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012

Finally recovered from hurricane. Shortened week for the column and will hopefully come back hot. Stats as follows: 6 for 30 hits and showing a $143.50 profit.

$1 play: 136/37/58/35 = $24

Analysis:

Race 7: I’ll go with two shippers in (1) Sax Solo, who gets a barn change, but more importantly driver switch, after racing well against similar Midwest competition and (3) Larry’s Dream who comes off a no shot eight hole try at Saratoga following two tough uncovered trips in Ohio, one in a 1:54.4 mile at Northfield and the other in a blistering 1:54.3 mile over Delaware’s lightning fast surface. Gets Brennan in second try with lasix and figures to be in the thick of it. For a bit of a price I’ll also throw in (6) Daydreamin Lynx who chased a much the best winner here in 1:55.3 mile two back, then paced a :56.3 final half, making up eight lengths with no real shot from impossible spot. Sophomore took his mark at Yonkers earlier in the year and may be sitting on a big mile.

Race 8: (3) Spudcam returns off 6-1/2 weeks on the bench for 41 percent barn. The 9-year-old beat tougher here in the summer and should be ready off a solid two-move qualifier in Philadelphia. (7) Lucky Lucky Leo was competitive against faster here in September before shipping to Philadelphia and taking a 1:52.2 lifetime mark in his only win on the year. Returns following a wide trip in even faster mile last time and could be live at a price despite barn’s low seasonal percentage.

Race 9: (5) Dear Mac came off the bench with a solid placing in 1:55 Freehold mile. Returns to Empire City at reduced level and should be tough to beat. Hard to figure what the story is with (8) Our Crown Law who was 7 for 16 Down Under last year and chased sub-1:52 miles there this year, winning one race in 1:53.1 back in April. Has been a bust so far on these shores, finishing eighth in his first three attempts before showing signs of life by finishing well for show against tougher two back, then getting parked the mile at this level before fading to seventh at odds of 2-5. Draws eight hole and who knows what’s in store tonight.

Race 10: I’ll wrap up tonight’s Pick-4 ticket with tough veterans (3) Froggy Turner and (5) Shark Dressed Man who have 65 combined career wins and are both racing at the top of their games right now.

Good luck.
