by Ayers Ratliff, Northfield Park Publicity Department

Ayers Ratliff offers his picks for the $10,000 Pick-4 at Northfield Park on Oct. 29, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Northfield Park Pick-4, Races 8-11, Monday, Oct. 29, 2012

On Monday, Oct. 29, Northfield Park will be offering a $10,000 guaranteed pool in the Pick-4. The Pick-4 has a reduced takeout rate of just 14 percent (the lowest in harness racing) and starts in the eighth race.

$1 play: 26/2/1248/12 = $16

Analysis:

Race 8: (2) Reverse The Curse draws well and could do well for his new connections. (6) One For Pence drops in class and could win against this lesser competition.

Race 9: (2) Eagle Jacob makes his second start back and has every reason to improve.

Race 10: (1) Kilo Shark draws the inside advantage and that advantage may be key to doing well tonight. (2) Scootin Bay draws well, fits well and looks to be able to do well. (4) Tidbit has been pacing some fast miles but starts at Northfield for the first time. (8) Dolly’s Rembrandt has three wins in a row; draws post eight but could still keep the streak alive.

Race 11: (1) Lightning Luck makes his second start back, drops in class, draws the rail and looks to get the job done. (2) Scootin Around draws better, drops in class and should be able to do well.
