by Steve Terjanian

Catskill Steve offers his picks for the guaranteed $25,000 pool in the Pick-4 at Yonkers Raceway on October 23, 2012 part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Yonkers Raceway Pick-4, Races 7-10, Tuesday, October 23, 2012

$1 play: 123/14/34/35 = $24

Analysis:

Race 7: Nothing really sticks out in opening leg so I’ll use the 3 inside horses. (1) Sir Jack couldn’t handle this level in last Yonkers visit but returns tonight from Philadelphia where he had a tough uncovered trip in last and two back finished evenly in a fast paced 1:51.4 mile. May be on the improve, gets the rail and “The White Knight”. (2) Arockin Hanover Saratoga invader lacked a rally last time after being used hard through :56.4 opening half two back, fading when unable to clear. 4-year-old earned over $100G’s as a sophomore mostly in stakes events, gets Bartlett and should fit well at this level. (3) Not This Time had pace finishing in latest off two uncovered tries in miles that went under 1:55. Chance with these although possibly facing another grinding trip.

Race 8: (1) Tudeeedu has weakened in last two after pacing sharp middle halves from tough spots. Gets the rail and can show speed for Bartlett who seems to get along best with this 3-year-old. (4) Cheyenne Jeffrey is just 3 for 52 lifetime but can leave the gate better than any in here and is a threat to shake loose.

Race 9: (3) Only Rock N Roll was over matched in NJ Futurity Final at Freehold last time but well bred sophomore has paced some big miles at Empire City in the past including a 1:53.3 romp against slightly weaker back in August. Looks tough from this spot. (4) Rockweiller broke leaving last time, recovered and paced :56.2 final half doing well to miss by less than 4 lengths. Three-year-old took a swift mark of 1:50.4 at The Meadowlands earlier in the year and appears a major player in this

Race 10: (3) Froggy Turner classy type went down the road and held sway beating lesser for 8th win of the year. Steps up but has shown improvement for underrated trainer who does very well with types like this. I’ll throw (5) Bolder in for a price. This one has been closing well in recent starts and is the only one in the field that has won at this level in the past few months.

Good Luck.
