Tim Tetrick was in the bike for trainer Linda Toscano as the 4-year-old son of Windsong’s Legacy-La Riviera Lindy won for the sixth time in eight season’s starts, with his 2012 earnings improving to $625,825.

Hot Shot Blue Chip was fastest off the gate and grabbed the lead as the field hit the first turn. With no hole opening up, Tetrick drove on with Chapter Seven and he was first on the outside of the track at the :27.3 opening quarter.

Chapter Seven ($2.40) cleared to the lead on the backstretch and hit the half in :55.1 with Hot Shot Blue Chip second and Arch Madness third. There was little movement as Chapter Seven hit the three-quarters in 1:23.1, but Mister Herbie was now beginning a late challenge as came off the wood in fourth.

Down the lane Chapter Seven was impressive, drawing away to win in 1:50.2, just one-fifth of a second off his own world record. Mister Herbie came on to finish second and Arch Madness was third.

“We had high hopes (that he would shade 1:50),” said co-owner Richard Gutnick, “but it wasn’t his kind of race and the weather wasn’t what we had hoped for. He is an amazing horse though and we are happy with him.”

Frenchfrysnvinegar lowered her own national season’s mark for an older trotting mare with a lifetime best 1:52 mile.

The $119,200 race for mare trotters saw David Smith’s Frenchfrysnvinegar lower her own national season’s mark for an older trotting mare on a mile track with a front end victory in a lifetime best 1:52. Jody Jamieson piloted the Jeff Gillis trained daughter of Angus Hall-Gugus to her eighth win in 24 season’s starts. The 7-year-old mare has now banked $367,150 in 2012.

Despite starting from post eight, Jamieson sent Frenchfrysnvinegar ($6.40) to the front in a quick opening panel of :26.4. She then hit the half in :54.3 and the three-quarters in 1:23.2.

The mare then pulled away from her challengers in the stretch and hit the wire easily on top in 1:52. Beatgoeson Hanover finished second and Cedar Dove was third.

“She’s always been a good filly,” said Jamieson. “You know when Jeff got her a year and a half, two years ago, he really got her into a position where she was great week in and week out. She took some figuring out early on, and you know, to be truthful, I thought when she got to the open ranks a year and a half ago, she wouldn’t be able to sustain it, but she’s made a believer out of me and most people that watch her.

“Once everybody did settle (today) I saw the three-quarters pop up in 1:23(.2) and I really thought I had a shot at some sort of world record, but she just waits on horses. She’ll wait until they come to her saddlepad and then she’ll dig back in and put them away.

“I wish someone would have charged at us a little bit late, because I know she would have trotted in (1):51 or better.”
