‘Catskill’ Steve’s Picks: Sept. 11 YR

by ‘Catskill’ Steve Terjanian

‘Catskill’ Steve Terjanian offers his picks for the $25,000 Pick-4 at Yonkers Raceway on Sept. 11, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Yonkers Raceway Pick-4, Races 7-10, Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012

$1 play: 12/57/36/48 = $16

Analysis:

Race 7: (1) The Real Dion finished with a powerful :55.3 final half to just miss in return to the small track. Career winner of better than $500,000 gets the rail and can work out a trip behind (2) Donttakeyourguns who chased a fast mile last time and may be able to shake loose in field lacking a ton of early speed.

Race 8: (5) King Cat Anvil N has had only three starts this year and enters this event on a 19-race losing streak but takes a key drop after finishing with sub-:28 final quarters in last two and figures to improve at this level. (7) Keytoourdreams N is 0 for 20 on the year but ships in from Pocono where he has consistently paced in under 1:52 in last three, gets aggressive pilot and should be flying off the wings.

Race 9: (3) Aintnofoolsgold was claimed off of some solid tries in fast Meadowlands miles with trainer in the bike back in early August, shipped to Pocono where he was a decent second then had little after making wide move in the mud last time. Brings his game to the half-miler in third start for new barn, gets a good spot and looks worth a shot at a price. (6) Indian Giver N chased torrid miles at Pocono in last two. Returns to Yonkers at a level he’s been consistent at, gets Brennan and may have a hot pace to close off of. Another capable of upsetting.

Race 10: (4) Connery Blue Chip is in career best form right now and had good pace finishing for place behind runaway winner last time. Expect another big mile from this guy tonight. (8) Twin B Hollister was too far back from similar spot last time, paced a :54.1 final half to earn check. Colt has ability and with the right trip can be a major factor with these.

Good luck.
