‘Catskill’ Steve Terjanian offers his picks for the $20,000 Pick-4 at Yonkers Raceway on Sept. 10, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Yonkers Raceway Pick-4, Races 7-10, Monday, Sept. 10, 2012

$1 play: 678/23/1/258 = $18

Analysis:

Race 7: I’ve hit a bit of a cold streak having gone 2 weeks without hitting a Pick 4. Still in the black for $207.00. I have to go 3 deep in leg one with all three starting from outside. (6) Iwannabesedated is winless on the year but comes off a much improved speed try and has back class having amassed over ½ a million in his career. (7) Box Car Johnnie had a tough spot in fast mile after being used twice and holding show in equally fast mile two back. Drops looking to improve on 1 for 22 season resume and figures to be in the thick of it. (8) I’m So Blue draws 8-hole off a good placing and as I stated last week it’s tough to leave Brennan out even if he’s starting from The Major Deegan. The “minister of speed” has now won 21 of the 64 pick 4 races I have been asked to handicap and interestingly won with this pacer the last two times he’s been in the sulky behind him.

Race 8: (3) Black Hat failed with no real excuse from the pocket last time. Moves inside, reunites with Bartlett and can rebound. (2) Bombay Away is 0 for 20 on the year but has raced gamely through fast miles in both Yonkers starts, the latest falling a neck shy after a tough uncovered grind with owner in the bike. Gets Sears back along with slightly better spot and may mow ’em down.

Race 9: (1) Top Doc gets the rail after having taken 2 straight at this level since rejoining the strong Coleman barn. I will single him out and hopefully he can continue form spree at about 2-5.

Race 10: Leg 4 looks to be the most wide open and again I have to go three deep. (2) Vesuvio Grande gets first inside post in a while and is capable of grinding it out which seems likely to be the trip he gets. (5) Military Stratcom gets slightly better post in second try at reduced level and has been a model of consistency throughout his career (70 for 98 in the money career wise with 46 out of 53 board finishes over past 2 seasons including 24 wins!). And of course I’ll throw in Brennan again from post 8 Arden’s Storm N who was claimed in first try in from Philadelphia where he raced in sharp form for the powerful Burke barn chasing a 1:20.4 three quarters two back.

Good Luck!
